About us

Shepherd’s Inn (original name in Lithuanian: Bernelių Užeiga) has been bringing delight to its visitors for ages by offering traditional dishes from Lithuanian cuisine in the environment that seems to have come from ancient times and carry the national spirit of Lithuania. Currently, six restaurants and inns that belong to this restaurant chain which promotes the protection and nurturing of ethnic culture are open for visitors.

This is like a challenge thrown to modern lifestyle which seems to push the old Lithuanian traditions into oblivion. The restaurants and inns belonging to the Shepherd’s Inn chain welcome their guests from Lithuania and all around the world with a true Cep Soup prepared according to the old recipes, a loaf of country bread enticing everyone with its mouth-watering scent of caraway and calamus, and many other dishes and appetizers prepared based on ancient recipes.

While you await your ordered dishes by the wooden table covered in linen tablecloth, you can take a look at the original interior design, décor elements and household items from long forgotten times. One word from you and the waitresses dressed in national clothing will let you taste the Devil’s Water or pour a glass of true rye whiskey... Relax and travel back by a few decades or, perhaps, ages with a little help from ethnographic dances, music and games. It depends solely on your mood whether to join the raging fun together with the others or to stay a quiet observer of the diverse pastime activities that our forefathers used to engage in.

Shepherd’s Inn is one of the first restaurants in the entire Lithuania to have been given the Certificate of Food Heritage Foundation. This Certificate confirms that the activities of Shepherd’s Inn (i.e., its environment, guest welcoming, service and preparation of dishes) reflect the traditional experience accumulated throughout the ages, the customs and culture of treats, traditional food preparation techniques and peculiarities of regional cuisine. Therefore, Shepherd’s Inn has been awarded the status of Food Heritage site.
